Kansas City Horn Club JAZZ FEST!

09/07/2014 19:20

I have been a member of the Board of Directors and an enthusiastic participant in the Kansas City Horn Club ( kchornclub.org ) for several months now. The club is comprised of students, amateurs, enthusiasts, and professionals in the greater Kansas City area who love the horn and want to share this love with the community. The Kansas City Horn Club features special concert events, sponsors educational outreach initiatives, and maintains a central focus of enriching the musical heritage and environment of Kansas City.

On Saturday, September 27th, the KCHC will feature the JAZZ FEST; an all-day event that highlights the rich jazz tradition of Kansas City. There will be a workshop on jazz improvisation, horn masterclasses, a mass horn choir concert with such works as "Sing, Sing, Sing", "Take Five", and "Autumn Leaves", and much more. I will be presenting a lecture about the horn's contributions to the world of jazz, and I will be conducting several of the horn choir charts, in addition to having a blast on fourth horn in the horn choir!
